Your Journey as a Financial Advisor in Alberta Starts Here!
This licensing process is a significant and crucial step in your exciting journey to becoming a successful financial advisor with IFSG. We are thrilled to have you on board and are here to support you every step of the way.
Licensing Process:
Step 1: Errors and Omissions (E&O) Insurance Coverage
- Obtain Errors and Omissions (E&O) Professional Insurance Advisor coverage. Download the application form here: Errors and Omission application.
- Submit the completed application to compliance@ifsg-ca.com.
Step 2: Police Background Check
- Acquire a police background check as required by the AIC. Complete this check at MyBackCheck by clicking on this link: MyBackCheck
Step 3: Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) Requirements
- Carefully review and prepare all requirements as outlined by the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC) and ensure all requirements are ready for submission. The instructions are listed here: https://www.abcouncil.ab.ca/applying-for-a-license/
Step 4: Apply for a License with AIC – Alberta Insurance Council
- Log in to the AIC, go to Licenses, and complete the “Apply for a License” section. Complete all requirements as requested by AIC. If you have any questions, contact our office administrator for support.
Step 5: Advisor Contracting Requirements
- Complete all sponsorship requirements as specified in the IFSG Advisor Contracting Requirements. Click here: https://ifsg-ca.com/ifsg-foresters-financial-broker-agreement/
Step 6: Upload Documents to Secured Online Portal & Notify Office
- Upload all documents related to both AIC and IFSG contracting to the secured online folder provided to you by the office. Once you have uploaded the files, please notify the office at office@ifsg-ca.com. This allows us to follow up with both AIC and IFSG.
Important Notes:
- Completing all forms accurately and submitting them as required is essential for a timely transfer.
- This process can take 2 to 4 weeks, so your patience and attention to detail are appreciated.
